Rosalba with scythe

Rosalba and Mark

We met in Brisbane, where we both worked in IT — in fact, we met at work. The pull of a different life eventually proved stronger than the city, and in 2005 we bought our property in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. We built our home here in 2009 and haven't looked back.

The name

BUDA combines our two family names: BU from Mark's family name Burgunder, and DA from Rosalba's family name D'Agostino. It felt right to put both names into the farm.

About those scythes

You might wonder about the photos. We used those scythes for years to cut fodder for our donkeys and goats. They were a practical tool at the time — quiet, fuel-free, and effective. As we've grown older we've retired them, but we kept the photos as a reminder of that chapter of the farm's life.

Certified organic

We are certified organic through Southern Cross Certified, an independent third-party certification body. Certification is important to us — it holds us accountable and gives our customers confidence that our growing practices are genuinely organic.
